Solar Payback

The 3-year Solar Payback project was part of the German International Climate Initiative (IKI), funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment (BMUB). Solar heat for industrial processes (SHIP) is one of the most efficient ways to provide CO2-free heat for industrial processes. Unfortunately, the technology was and is relatively unknown. The main objective of Solar Payback was therefore to promote the use of Solar Heat for Industrial Processes (SHIP) across the four partner countries – Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, and India – by raising awareness of its technical and economic potential, and increasing willingness to invest in it. Target audiences for capacity building activities were engineering consultants, energy managers in industry, industrial plant owners and other commercial users, national and international banks and investors
