Promotion of renewable energy and energy efficiency programme – PREEEP

PREEEP was a program implemented on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) that supported the Ugandan Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development in the areas of energy policy, rural electrification, improvement of market structures in the energy sector, and energy efficiency. The main rationale of this assignment was to support the development of a skilled workforce via practical, needs-based vocational training to boost RE/EE market growth capable of meeting growing energy needs among residential, commercial, and (small-scale) industrial energy users, particularly in underserved rural and peri-urban areas of Northern Uganda, thereby contributing to both the professionalization of the RE/EE sector and increased electrification rates.
